Taguig recognized in 2023 Balikat ng Bayan Awards

Taguig City, known for its commitment to providing high-quality services to its residents, received a special citation award in the prestigious 2023 Balikat ng Bayan Awards. This recognition came as part of the 66th Anniversary Celebration of the Social Security System (SSS), where outstanding individuals, employers, and organizations are acknowledged for their substantial contributions to the SSS mandate.

The award was presented during a ceremony held at the SSS Main Building in Diliman, Quezon City, on Friday, September 8. The SSS commended Taguig City for its unwavering adherence to the Social Security law and its remarkable efforts in delivering exceptional services to its constituents.

In a significant partnership between SSS and Taguig in September 2022, a Memorandum of Agreement was signed. This collaboration enabled the city to extend loan privileges to its Job Order (JO) and Contract of Service (COS) personnel, making them active members of SSS. This initiative provided them with essential social protection against various risks such as disability, sickness, maternity, old age, death, and even unemployment.

Additionally, the City of Taguig entered into another meaningful partnership with SSS. This partnership aimed to empower self-employed individuals with disabilities by offering them the opportunity to make voluntary monthly contributions as SSS members.

Mayor Lani Cayetano, personally receiving the recognition during the awarding ceremony, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the SSS for its invaluable assistance to Taguig City. She emphasized the city's commitment to caring for persons with disabilities and highlighted the positive impact of the partnership: "As a caring city, the welfare of persons with disabilities is always part of our city government's agenda... I'd like to take this opportunity to thank our SSS family because, truly, this agreement will allow a more secure future for self-employed persons with disabilities in our city. And this will enable them to also enjoy the benefits of this program," Mayor Cayetano declared.
