In a move that underscores its commitment to education and holistic development, the City Government of Taguig has initiated a comprehensive effort to support its students through the distribution of school packages and the launch of the Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-need (LANI) Scholarship Program. The initiative aims to equip students, including those from the newly incorporated EMBO barangays, with the necessary tools and opportunities for academic success and personal growth.

On Tuesday, August 22, the City Government commenced its distribution of school packages to students from various schools across Taguig. These packages are tailored according to grade levels and comprise essential items such as bags, uniforms, socks, black and rubber shoes, and a complete set of basic school supplies. Moreover, daycare and kindergarten students will receive additional items such as emergency contact cards and health kits containing essentials like toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand towels, and alcohol spray.

Taguigueño students welcomed this initiative as they expressed their gratitude for the thoughtful provision of school supplies. Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano actively participated in the distribution event, personally handing out supplies to students from Pitogo High School and Upper Bicutan Elementary School. Mayor Lani emphasized that the presence of the City's leadership during such events is a testament to their unwavering support for learners and their dreams.

"More than the material things na itu-turn over, ang presence po natin ngayon ay testament sa kahandaan nating lahat to really support our learners, to really support their dreams and aspirations in life, and to do our best to show them that we are ready to cooperate—handa tayong magkaisa pag ang pinag-usapan ay ang kanilang future," said Mayor Lani.

The event also provided an opportunity for Mayor Lani to engage in meaningful discussions with students about their academic journey and aspirations. This interaction further emphasized the City Government's commitment to not only provide resources but also to actively connect with its youth and create a nurturing educational environment.

Beyond the distribution of school supplies, the City of Taguig also unveiled its LANI Scholarship Program during the event held at Pitogo High School. The LANI Scholarship Program is a transformative initiative aimed at providing financial support to students in the EMBO barangays, offering scholarships not only to Senior High School graduates but to all qualified residents of the city's 10 new barangays.

Crucially, the LANI Scholarship Program stands out for its inclusivity—it is open to all students regardless of their year levels or academic achievements. The program aims to equip learners with the resources to pursue their education and personal development goals. The scholarship offerings vary based on the chosen academic path, ranging from P15,000 up to P50,000 per year for high school graduates with or without honors, P40,000 to P50,000 yearly for those in premier colleges and universities or pursuing priority courses, and P15,000 annually for technical and vocational courses.

The LANI Scholarship Program extends its support even to those who are preparing for licensure examinations and postgraduate studies. Additionally, public and private school teachers in Taguig pursuing higher education may also avail of scholarship opportunities.

The City of Taguig reaffirms its commitment to supporting its residents' educational endeavors, ensuring that every learner is given the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to thrive academically and beyond. For those interested in applying for scholarships, more information and requirements can be found on the official Taguig Scholarships Facebook page and the city's website. The Scholarships Office is also reachable through (02) 828-88560 for inquiries and assistance.

The City of Taguig emphasizes that residency or registration requirements will not pose an issue for students applying for scholarships, as the City recognizes the residency and registration in EMBO barangays as valid and sufficient compliance. This holistic approach to education highlights Taguig's commitment to providing comprehensive services to its residents, ensuring a bright future for its learners.
