Taguig residents no longer have to travel far to witness the beauty of cherry blossoms. The Laguna Lake Highway, also known as C6 Road, is now adorned with blooming pink trumpet trees that resemble the iconic Japanese sakura. Thanks to the initiative of Mayor Lani Cayetano and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, the pink trumpet trees have flourished along the center island and bike lanes of C6 Road.

These fast-growing trees, scientifically known as Tabebuia rosea, have been propagated since 2015 and are now in full bloom, displaying beautiful light pink to purplish pink flowers. The City found this variety to be the most suitable for covering the entire 7.2-kilometer stretch of C6 Road, including the northbound and southbound bike lanes, totaling 21 kilometers in length.

Aside from providing a picturesque view, the pink trumpet trees also increase the tree population along C6 Road, contributing to the City's efforts to address the increasing carbon footprint in the area. The trees are known to bloom all year round but present themselves most beautifully from January to April when they shed foliage.

The blooming of these pink trumpet trees is a testament to the City's commitment to environmental sustainability and the beautification of public spaces. It's a refreshing sight for motorists, commuters, and cyclists who traverse C6 Road every day, bringing a touch of spring to the city all year round.

So, the next time you find yourself in Taguig, take a drive or ride along the Laguna Lake Highway and bask in the beauty of the pink trumpet trees.
