City of Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano lauded two of the city’s policemen for turning down a bribe worth P182,000 last January 14.

Instead of accepting the bribe, Taguig City Police Patrolmen Pat Hever Caspe and Pat Mark Leonard Arcilla arrested 24-year-old Chinese National, Yi Miu, at the Taguig City Police Sub-Station 1, located at Brgy. Fort Bonifacio, where the attempted bribery allegedly occurred.

According to Taguig Chief of Police PCol. Robert Baesa, Yi was negotiating for the release of his colleagues who had been collared in an entrapment operation earlier that day for alleged robbery extortion and violation of R.A. 9165. This was when Yi offered Patrolmen Caspe and Arcilla a sum of P182,000, which they outrightly rejected.

"Patrolmen Caspe and Arcilla deserve commendation for upholding the integrity of the Taguig City Police. We hope that every Taguig City Police officer will have the honesty, morals, and heart of service to resist the temptation, no matter the amount offered. On our part, we are committed to continue supporting our police force and strengthening our peace and order programs to eliminate crimes in the city," Mayor Lani said.

Following the arrest, the bribe money and other pieces of evidence were seized, including one unit of Caliber 9mm Pistol - Viper 2, one piece of a gun magazine loaded with seven live ammunitions, and the suspect's vehicle, a metallic gray Toyota Vios.
