Taguig City continues its commitment to providing accessible education by distributing scholarship allowances to 387 new beneficiaries under the Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-need (LANI) Scholarship Program. These beneficiaries are the first batch of new scholars from the EMBO barangays.

The LANI Scholarship Program offers seven types of scholarships with grants ranging from P15,000 to P110,000 per year, given out every semester. Those who achieve a semestral weighted average of at least 88.75 receive an additional P5,000.

To ensure inclusivity and accessibility, the city conducted door-to-door delivery of notices to inform and invite qualified students personally. This initiative is part of Taguig's commitment to providing education opportunities not only to the top 10 percent of graduates but to all students who aspire to continue their studies.

Mayor Lani Cayetano expressed the city's belief that intelligence isn't solely measured by academic excellence. "We believe that your gifts or talents in art, music, or sports are also a form of intelligence," said Mayor Lani. She emphasized that investing in education is investing in the city's strong foundation.

The LANI Scholarship Program eases financial burdens for students like Ron Alvin Balbuena, a 4th year Information Technology student. Balbuena, a West Rembo resident, explained that the LANI scholarship program's absence of grade requirements makes it a valuable resource for many families in the EMBO barangays.

Jowei Reign Anastacio, a 4th year BS in Information Technology student from Pembo, also expressed gratitude for the LANI scholarship program, which has been beneficial to her classmates and fellow students. Anastacio's father, Ronnie, mentioned that the scholarship grant has motivated her daughter to finish her studies.

Taguig's LANI Scholarship Program aims to provide equal opportunities to all students, especially those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. By offering financial support, it enables students to focus on their education and extracurricular activities without the burden of part-time work.

Over the years, Taguig has assisted more than 83,000 scholars and produced over 3,500 licensed professionals, with more than 50 of them ranking in the Top 10 in various board exams. This demonstrates the city's commitment to fostering education and producing skilled professionals.
