San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said that over 4,000 individuals aged 12 to 17 have signed up for the city’s COVID-19 vaccination program amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.

In an interview with ABS-CBN on Tuesday, Zamora said that the number of registrants has climbed in just two weeks since the city government launched its vaccination portal for minors.

“Kitang-kita ko nga ho ang excitement ng mga magulang sapagkat gusto ho talaga nilang mabigyan ng proteksyon ang kanilang mga anak. Alam niyo po ang aming datos dito sa San Juan 15 percent po ng aming active cases ay 18 (years old) and below, so malaking porsyento pa rin po ito ng kabataan na naaapektuhan at nagkakaroon ng COVID-19 (I can really see the eagerness of parents to give their children protection against COVID-19. Here in San Juan, 15 percent of our active cases are aged 18 years old and below, so a big a big percentage of minors are infected with COVID-19),” Zamora said.

According to the national government, the pilot vaccination of individuals aged 12 to 17 will commence in the following hospitals in Metro Manila:

1. Philippine Children’s Medical Center

2. National Children’s Hospital

3. Philippine Heart Center

4. Pasig City General Hospital

5. Fe Del Mundo Medical Center

6. Philippine General Hospital

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez said that the vaccination of minors will be done by phase starting with 15 to 17 years old, then 12 to 14. He added that after 14 days, the vaccination will then be expanded to other local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila.
