QC shares food security, innovation programs with NZ ambassador
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte recently shared the city's programs on food security and government effectiveness and innovation with New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines His Excellency Peter Kell.
Accompanied by the heads of various city departments, including the Business Permits and Licensing Department and the City Engineering Department, Mayor Belmonte discussed the city's Healthy Food Procurement Policy and Ease of Doing Business initiative with the ambassador.
Under the Healthy Food Procurement Policy, the city government ensures that its funds are allocated to the purchase of nutritious and healthy food. Meanwhile, the Ease of Doing Business initiative streamlines and simplifies the process of obtaining a business permit for entrepreneurs in Quezon City.
The meeting was part of the Government-to-Government (G2G) Exploratory Discussion between New Zealand and the Quezon City Government to identify best practices that can be adopted or implemented in their respective areas.
Mayor Belmonte emphasized the importance of food security, especially in light of the ongoing pandemic, and how the city's programs are aimed at ensuring that every citizen has access to nutritious food. The Ease of Doing Business initiative, on the other hand, seeks to attract more businesses to invest in the city and help boost its economic growth.
The meeting with the New Zealand Ambassador highlights the city's commitment to innovation and collaboration with other governments to improve the lives of its citizens. The exchange of best practices and ideas is crucial in addressing the challenges faced by local governments in providing efficient and effective services to their constituents.
The Quezon City Government's programs on food security and government innovation serve as models for other cities and countries to follow in their pursuit of sustainable development and inclusive growth.
