QC department receives Water Warrior Award
Quezon City Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Department (CCESD) has been recognized as one of the Water Warrior Awardees for Advocacy Leadership by Maynilad Water Services, Inc., National Water Resources Board, and Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The award was received by CCESD Head Andrea Villaroman at the World Water Day Philippines Award 2023 ceremony held at SMX Convention Center.
This award highlights the city's effort to ensure water sufficiency for its residents. In 2021, Mayor Joy Belmonte was also recognized by the award-giving body for her efforts in this area.
The city government has released a memorandum circular in 2019 that encourages proper and efficient use of water in various departments. Quezon City is also assessing its city-owned buildings and schools to determine which ones can be installed with rainwater harvesting systems and water storage tanks.
The recognition of CCESD as a Water Warrior Awardee for Advocacy Leadership is a testament to the city's commitment to sustainability and environmental protection. Through its various initiatives and programs, Quezon City continues to prioritize water conservation and management, ensuring that its residents have access to clean and sufficient water supply.
