Pet owners brought their cats and dogs to a mall in Quezon City on Sunday, Oct. 2, for a drive-thru pet blessing activity, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.

The activity was held at the Eastwood Citywalk Main Drive, Eastwood City in QC at around 9 a.m. on Sunday, where a priest blessed the pets with the holy water while they are inside the vehicles of their owners.

In a DZBB Super Radyo report on Sunday, the management of the Eastwood City said that its annual drive-thru pet blessing activity was conducted as part of the celebration of the World Animal Day.

A “pet wedding” ceremony will also be held at the open park of the Eastwood Mall at around 5 p.m., according to a post on the Eastwood City’s Facebook page.

The report said that 15 pairs of pets will participate in the “pet wedding.” It is considered to be the first wedding activity for pets in the country.

Aside from the drive-thru pet blessing and pet wedding, different activities such as in-person pet blessing, donation drive concert, and anti-rabies vaccinations will be held in the area on Sunday afternoon.

The World Animal Day is celebrated every Oct. 4, to raise awareness on animal rights and welfare.
