Pateros encourages online classes during transport strike

The local government unit of Pateros, through Mayor Ike Ponce, issued a notice to all its residents in preparation for the upcoming transport strike or "tigil pasada." The memorandum directed the principals and administrators of all public and private schools to take preemptive measures to address the possible impact of the strike on the mobility of students.

They were advised to resort to conducting online classes or suspending classes if necessary.

The local government unit expects that the effect of the strike, if any, will be limited to a few college and high school students who are not residents of Pateros but are residing in nearby barangays of neighboring cities.

Nevertheless, these students can also be transported by tricycles. There is no expected problem with elementary students as they are from Pateros, and transportation by tricycle is readily available.

However, if the first day of the strike shows a grave effect on the mobility of students, the local government unit may resort to suspending classes if necessary.

They have reserved three vehicles for Libreng Sakay starting Monday and have earmarked a considerable amount for gasoline. They can also augment the number of vehicles if they see the need to do so.
