Pasig mayor unveils health, sanitation initiatives

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto recently addressed the public, unveiling a comprehensive set of initiatives designed to enhance the city's health sector and sanitation efforts. During his address, he expressed gratitude and acknowledgment for various city officials, departments, personnel, and representatives of national government agencies who attended the event.

One of the key highlights of his address was the city's commitment to supporting the health sector. Mayor Vico extended his appreciation to City Councilor Eric Gonzales, who chairs the City Council’s Committee on Health, and the Sangguniang Panlungsod, led by Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski, for their collaborative efforts in formulating and passing essential ordinances aimed at bolstering the city's health sector.

A significant focus of his address was on the formal establishment of Barangay Health Centers in the city. Mayor Vico emphasized the crucial role of an ordinance formalizing these health centers, as it has significant implications, particularly for PhilHealth accreditation, which necessitates such an ordinance.

In addition to this, Mayor Vico highlighted the existence of other ordinances that specifically target improvements in hospitals, health centers, and various divisions and sections of the City Health Department.

The Mayor also expressed his deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by the Environmental Sanitation Office, especially during the challenging times of the pandemic. He commended their dedication and hard work in providing safety and quality services to the people of Pasig.

As Pasig City transitions towards a "better normal," Mayor Vico assured continued efforts to uphold stringent health and sanitation standards. He thanked the Environmental Sanitation Office for their unwavering commitment to inspecting and ensuring that local businesses and establishments, particularly food establishments, adhere to these standards, guaranteeing safety for consumers.

Furthermore, Mayor Vico shared an exciting upcoming project – the accreditation of food carts and street food stalls to ensure compliance with rigorous health and sanitation standards. This project is set to be fully implemented starting in 2024.
