Pasig conducts earthquake drill
The Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) led the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill held this afternoon, March 9, 2023, and the Pasig City Hall employees and visitors participated in it. The drill was organized to educate and prepare individuals in the event of an earthquake.
At the sound of the alarm, all employees and visitors immediately ducked, covered, and held on to secure surfaces under the tables or desks, and some of the city's offices and departments evacuated to their designated areas. The evacuation process was closely monitored by the DRRMO personnel to ensure everyone's safety.
After ensuring that everyone had safely evacuated, the Pasig City DRRMO conducted a full-scale exercise, including search and rescue operations and assessment of possible building damages. The purpose of the exercise was to evaluate the effectiveness of the city's earthquake preparedness plan and identify areas of improvement.
The Pasig City government believes that participating in earthquake drills such as this one is crucial to help people become familiar with earthquake procedures and to be prepared in the event of a real disaster. Through this initiative, the local government hopes to raise public awareness and help reduce the number of casualties during a catastrophic event. The Pasig City DRRMO assured everyone that the drill was conducted successfully and with utmost safety precautions.
