Pasig launches 'Karinderya Para sa Healthy Pilipinas'
The Pasig City Health Department has launched the "Karinderya Para sa Healthy Pilipinas" program on May 8, 2023. The initiative aims to collaborate with local food establishments, specifically carinderias, in the fight against malnutrition.
The program is based on eight health promotion playbooks of the Department of Health, providing guidelines for nutritious food preparation and healthy food service practices.
With additional funding from Barangay Maybunga and Rosario, and the cooperation of karinderya owners, the program ensures that the food served meets the nutritional needs of pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children aged five and below. Along with this, the program will also conduct various health and nutrition education classes within the 120-day implementation period.
The Karinderya Para sa Healthy Pilipinas program is a significant step in promoting healthy eating habits among Filipinos, as carinderias are a common source of affordable and accessible meals for many people.
The program not only supports the fight against malnutrition but also helps small business owners in the food industry by providing them with tools and resources to prepare and serve nutritious meals to their customers.
The City Health Department encourages the public to support their health programs and initiatives for a healthy Pasig City, a healthy Metro Manila, and a healthy Philippines. By working together, we can achieve a healthier and more prosperous nation.
