A total of 72 leaders from various civil society organizations (CSOs) that are currently members of the local special bodies of the Pasig City government participated in the CSO Workshop on Local Governance Engagement and Participation held yesterday, March 10, 2023.

The workshop aims to generate project ideas from the representatives of the CSOs, which will be consolidated and forwarded to the identified offices/departments of the Pasig City government for implementation. These ideas will serve as inputs that the offices/departments can consider when developing their Annual Investment Program for the year 2024.

The project ideas were derived from the identified priority sectoral projects and programs from the previous CSO workshop held in October 2022. It is worth noting that another CSO Workshop on Local Governance Engagement and Participation was conducted during the last quarter of 2022, along with the oath-taking of the CSO representatives who were elected as members of the local special bodies in the City.

The conduct of this workshop is part of the initiative of the Pasig City government to continuously expand and strengthen participatory governance in the City.

Aside from continuously opening mechanisms for CSOs to participate in governance, it also comes with capacity development activities to ensure that their participation in local special bodies in Pasig will be meaningful, deep, and productive.

The workshop was made possible through the collaboration of the Pasig City government, led by the Office of the City Mayor - CSO Desk, the Institute of Politics and Governance, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government - Pasig Field Office.
