Pasig City Employees Rally in 'Love Your Heart' Fun Run 2023
In a spirited display of unity and wellness advocacy, over 800 employees from Pasig City Government actively participated in the highly-anticipated Pasig City Employees Fun Run 2023, which took place on November 5, 2023, under the banner theme of "Love Your Heart."
The event saw an impressive turnout, with 480 individuals joining the invigorating 5-kilometer run, while 341 enthusiastically embraced the challenge of the 8-kilometer track. Setting off from Emerald Ave., the runners traversed a route that encompassed Julia Vargas Ave., Lanuza Ave., St. Martin, Molave St., and St. Paul Road.
Prior to the official commencement of the run, a brief program was conducted, featuring Opening Remarks delivered by Ms. Elvira Flores, Head of the Human Resource Development Office at the Pasig City Government. Adding to the pre-run excitement, a vibrant Zumba session served as the perfect warm-up routine for all participants.
After an exhilarating run, the fastest contenders emerged, with notable winners in both the 8 km and 5 km categories. For the 8 km run, the top positions were secured by Ron Borres (City Health Department - Pasig Emergency Unit) clinching the first place, followed by Benefer Digamon from Pasig City General Hospital in second place and Edgar Zaragoza from the People's Law Enforcement Board securing third place.
Meanwhile, in the 5 km run, the victors included Matt Gulle Cruz from the Sports Development Program in first place, Bea Grabador from the same program in second place, and Carlo Jay Gallego from the Pasig Urban Settlement Office securing third place. Additionally, Jay Harold Gregorio from the Sports Development Program received a Special Award for their outstanding performance.
An awarding ceremony, graced by the presence of Mayor Vico Sotto and Councilor Corie Raymundo, highlighted the event's conclusion. Cash prizes were awarded to the winners, while all finishers received well-deserved finisher medals, symbolizing their triumph in the Fun Run.
The successful execution of the Pasig City Employee Fun Run stands as a testament to the city's commitment to promoting health and wellness, also coinciding with the ongoing commemoration of Pasig's 450th founding anniversary. This vibrant event was made possible through the collaborative efforts spearheaded by the Human Resource Development Office in coordination with various departments within the Pasig City Government.
