The local government of Pasay City, under the leadership of Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, actively participated in the Nationwide Earthquake Drill held on March 9, 2023. The drill aimed to raise awareness and preparedness for a possible earthquake, which can strike at any time and cause significant damage and loss of life.

The city's government employees joined the simultaneous Drop-Cover-Hold exercise, which is a standard procedure to follow during an earthquake. The drill was conducted as a reminder for every Pasayeño to be mindful of the necessary steps to take in case of an earthquake.

The earthquake drill was held in the wake of a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria, causing over 50,000 fatalities and massive destruction to homes and structures. The Pasay City government believes that being proactive in disaster preparedness can save lives and minimize the impact of natural calamities.
