Paranaque conciudes 2024 gender and development planning
The local government of Parañaque City successfully concluded the two-day Gender and Development Planning and Budget Formulation for 2024 at Max’s Restaurant in Dr. A. Santos Avenue. The event was attended by Mayor Eric L. Olivarez, members of the City Development Council, and leaders of various departments within the local government, led by City Administrator Atty. Voltaire Dela Cruz. Also present were councilors from the first and second districts, as well as barangay captains.
The event aimed to formulate programs and budgets for gender and development (GAD) that would address various issues related to gender in the community.
Mayor Olivarez reminded all participants to use the allocated budget properly for priority projects of the city. He emphasized that the local government is keen on avoiding the wastage of funds, as seen in the previous year due to the pandemic.
The annual GAD planning and budget formulation is mandated by Memorandum Circular no. 2011-01 to ensure the drafting of programs, plans, and activities, as well as the budget for GAD. The local government of Parañaque City has been conducting this activity every year to address gender-related issues and improve the lives of its residents.
The planning and budget formulation event lasted for two days, from March 9 to March 10, 2023. It was a collaborative effort among the local government officials, non-government organizations, and stakeholders to ensure that the programs and plans formulated will benefit everyone, especially the marginalized sectors of the community.
With this event, the city government of Parañaque aims to create a gender-fair society where every individual, regardless of their gender, can live a life with dignity and respect.
