Parañaque mayor leads health check-up for senior citizens
Parañaque City - The local government of Parañaque continues its commitment to care for and serve senior citizens through the "Kumustahan sa Kalusugan with Lolo and Lola" program held on Saturday at the Parañaque City Sports Complex in Barangay San Antonio.
The event was spearheaded by Mayor Eric L. Olivarez and his wife, First Lady Ate Aileen Claire Olivarez, who also serves as the City Nutrition Action Officer of Parañaque.
Addressing the 200 participating senior citizens of Barangay San Antonio, the Olivarez couple emphasized the importance of spending quality time with the elderly, expressing love, and continuously caring for them.
Mayor Eric and Ate Aileen also delighted the seniors with songs and dances, along with the distribution of free vitamins, water, and food.
Furthermore, Dr. Mercy Bunao, the Assistant Officer-in-Charge of the City Nutrition Office, conducted a brief lecture on the appropriate diet for senior citizens and shared tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The "Kumustahan sa Kalusugan" program, in collaboration with senior citizens, was organized by the City Nutrition Office under the leadership of City Nutrition Action Officer Ms. Aileen Olivarez and Assistant OIC Dr. Mercy Bunao.
Among the attendees were Dr. Ma. Loreleigh S. Obed, the Head of the City Health Plan Office, Dr. Himmler Cos, the Assistant Head of the City Health Office, Mr. Mart Bangui, the Mayor's Action Barangay Officer OIC, Ms. Leolinda Alcantara, the Head of the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs, and Ms. Evelyn Luching, the Assistant Head of OSCA.
Also present were Mr. Joey Rogacion, the OIC of the Civil Security Unit, Mr. Catalino B. Alano Jr., the OIC of the Public Information Office, Mr. Mark Allen Besa, the OIC of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and Ms. Connie Zialcita from the External and Homeowners Affairs Office. Barangay Captain Leopoldo "Pol" Casale and former Barangay Chairman Mr. JR Sanchez also attended the gathering.
The "Kumustahan sa Kalusugan with Lolo and Lola" program exemplifies the city government's dedication to the well-being and happiness of senior citizens. By providing health check-ups, informative sessions, and joyful interactions, Parañaque City aims to create a nurturing environment for its elderly population, promoting their overall welfare and enhancing their quality of life.
