A week after it started the community-based immunization against measles, rubella, tetanus, and diphtheria (MR-TD), Navotas has already inoculated more than its target number of children aged 6-7 years old.

Data from the Department of Health showed that Navotas has vaccinated 6,309 6- and 7-year-old kids or 106.15% of the 5,944 target.

Meanwhile, 5,472 out of 5,756 children aged 12 and 13 years old have also received MR-TD vaccine as of October 21, 2021.

"We are grateful to our health workers for their relentless efforts in protecting our children from diseases. We also thank the parents and guardians for their cooperation in our immunization program," Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

Navotas health workers went house-to-house to administer the vaccine. Children who were not home during the visit could go be brought to the nearest barangay health center to get immunized.

"We have started the inoculation of Navoteño residents and students aged 17 years old with comorbidity against COVID-19. We hope this will have the same reception and acceptance as with the MR-TD vaccination program," Tiangco said.

"It is crucial that we reach our target at the earliest time so our children will soon enjoy greater mobility, as well as access to face-to-face classes," he added.
