Mayor Toby Tiangco and Congressman John Rey Tiangco Monday led the inauguration of various facilities in Navotas and the lighting of the city's giant Christmas tree.

Navotas formally opened the Pescador and Green Zone parks located at barangays Bangkulasi and North Bay Boulevard North (NBBN), respectively.

The city also inaugurated the NBBN Elementary School Multi-Purpose Hall.

“Despite our very limited space, we do our best to provide Navoteños with parks and other venues for them to safely bond and enjoy with their families. We only ask that they take care of these parks and keep them clean,” Mayor Tiangco said.

Mayor and Cong. Tiangco, together with other city officials, also led the lighting of the Christmas Tree and opening of the Christmas Bazaar at the Navotas Citywalk and Amphitheater.

"Navotas continues to be under 'very low risk' for COVID-19 and we only have 18 active cases now. Hence, we decided to hold the lighting in person," Mayor Tiangco noted.

"It has been more than a year since we enjoyed the outdoors. Our people deserve this, especially since they have been very supportive in keeping our cases down. However, we must continue to be careful and to follow the health protocols because the danger of contracting COVID remains," he added.

Cong. Tiangco, on the other hand, encouraged fellow Navoteños to support and patronize local businesses to help boost the city’s economy.

“This Christmas season, try buying from local brands and small shops within the community. Let us help our fellow Navoteños recover from the financial drought caused by the pandemic, and give the micro and small entrepreneurs a fair chance to continue and flourish,” he said.

The Christmas Bazaar is open from 5PM to 12MN daily, until December 23, 2021.
