Navotas begins inoculation of poor residents
Navotas City on Thursday rolled out its house-to-house vaccination against Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) to serve Navoteños unable to visit the city's vaccination sites because of ailment.
The city also started the inoculation of residents belonging to A5 category or indigent population.
An initial 30 bedridden senior residents of Barangay Tangos North and South received their first jabs at the comfort of their home.
“We extended the city government’s vaccination services to bedridden Navoteños, most of whom are senior citizens, to ensure they are protected against the deadly virus,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.
“Even if they always remain at home, COVID-19 infection and household transmission is still possible as long as their family members are doing transactions and activities outside. We put premium on the health of Navoteños and we are willing to go the extra mile to keep them safe and well,” he added.
The city government has also started inoculation of the A5 priority group.
Around 160 members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) have received their first dose of Pfizer at the Tumana Health Center.
“We are exerting all efforts for Pfizer to reach the poorest of the poor. We have sought the help of our 4Ps coordinator to bring our indigent constituents to the vaccination site,” Tiangco said.
As of June 16, 56,673 city residents and workers have received their first jabs.
On the other hand, 14,667 have completed their two doses of the vaccine. Of this, 1,052 are frontliners, 5,322 are senior citizens, 8,240 are persons with comorbidities, and 53 are essential workers.
