Some 219 people who use drugs (PWUDs) have graduated from Bidahan, the community-based treatment and rehabilitation program of the City Government of Navotas.

Of this number, 13 are children in conflict with the law (CICL).

The former PWUDs underwent six months of online and limited face-to-face counseling conducted by the Navotas Anti-Drug Abuse Council (NADAC) in partnership with Narcotics Anonymous.

Meanwhile, 41 previous Bidahan graduates completed six months aftercare program, and 10 finished 18 months of follow-up counseling sessions.

“We are glad that our fellow Navoteños have decided to change their ways. We are also happy for their families and loved ones. To our graduates, feel free to reach out to us or your counsellors any time. Changing for the better is difficult but we are here to support you as you strive to overcome your challenges,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

Cong. John Rey Tiangco, on the other hand, reminded the graduates to think thoroughly whatever they decide to do.

"Your graduation from Bidahan doesn't mean the end of your problems. Every day would be a struggle, and you need to think carefully what to do next as you continue your journey towards becoming responsible and productive citizens," he said.

The Bidahan online program features lectures, group counseling, relapse prevention, as well as multi-family and couple’s counseling and therapy.

The program also includes 12 steps group study, women’s group, youth/CICL counseling, and mental health awareness.

The Bidahan program started in October 2016 and has since had 25 batches composed of 1,075 participants.
