Muntinlupa holds inter-barangay baseball tournament
On May 6, the Inter-Barangay Baseball Tournament was officially launched at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex, marking the start of an exciting sports event in the city. The tournament, which will take place over three weekends in the month of May, features players aged 5 to 8 in the Coach Pitch category and players aged 9 to 10 in the Minors category. Participating barangays include Tunasan, Poblacion, Bayanan, Ayala Alabang, Cupang, and Sucat.
Mayor Ruffy Biazon expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament, highlighting its significance in promoting baseball within the city and maximizing the use of sports facilities. He emphasized his hope that the tournament would not only produce champion teams in Muntinlupa but also become a source of talent for the National Capital Region (NCR) or even nationwide competitions.
The success of the Inter-Barangay Baseball Tournament would not be possible without the efforts of the event organizers and the support of Gigawatt Power Inc., the tournament's sponsor. Mayor Biazon extended his gratitude to both parties for their contributions in making the tournament a reality.
Additionally, Muntinlupa will have the privilege of sending representatives to the upcoming Pre-National Qualifying Meet, preceding the 63rd Palarong Pambansa scheduled from July 29 to August 5, 2023. This opportunity arises after baseball teams from Bayanan Elementary School Main (Elementary Division) and PAREF Southridge School (High School Division) emerged victorious in the NCR Palaro Regional Meet 2023 held in Marikina City from April 24 to 28.
The Inter-Barangay Baseball Tournament serves as a platform to nurture the growth of baseball in Muntinlupa and provide young athletes with an avenue to showcase their skills and sportsmanship. By fostering a culture of sports excellence, the city aims to develop well-rounded individuals and contribute to the overall sports landscape of the country.
With the tournament serving as a stepping stone, Muntinlupa looks forward to producing exceptional baseball talents who can bring pride not only to the city but also to the NCR and the nation. The support of Mayor Ruffy Biazon and the local government, along with the dedication of event organizers and sponsors, ensures that the Inter-Barangay Baseball Tournament will be a memorable and impactful sporting event for the participating teams and the community as a whole.
As the tournament unfolds over the course of the next few weekends, Muntinlupa residents and sports enthusiasts can look forward to witnessing the growth and progress of young baseball players, celebrating their achievements, and fostering a strong sense of camaraderie within the city. The Inter-Barangay Baseball Tournament is an opportunity for Muntinlupa to shine as a sports hub and contribute to the development of athletes who may one day represent the country in national and international competitions.
