DSWD, Muntinlupa host regional Children's Congress
In observance of the 2023 National Children's Month, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) partnered with the Muntinlupa City Government to organize the Regional Children's Congress. This collaborative effort aimed to amplify the theme “Healthy, Nourished, Sheltered: Ensuring the Right to Life for All.” The event held a significant gathering of carefully selected child representatives from various cities and municipalities within the National Capital Region (NCR).
Taking place at the South Park Center in Alabang on Saturday, November 18, the Congress provided a vital platform for these young delegates to voice their perspectives, opinions, and concerns. Through engaging workshops and discussions, the participants delved into the critical aspects of the 10 Rights of a Child. These workshops also served as a medium for the children to address personal challenges and issues they faced, particularly regarding the infringement of their fundamental rights.
Moreover, the event was more than just an avenue for discussions and workshops. It served as a momentous occasion for the Regional Committee for the Welfare of Children (RCWC) to facilitate the selection process for new Child Representatives. Among those elected were Andre Jean Salazar from Brgy. Poblacion and Anne Van Tuin from Brgy. Bayanan. These two young advocates now proudly stand among the five representatives committed to championing the rights and well-being of children across the entire NCR.
The Regional Children's Congress was a testament to the collective effort of DSWD and the Muntinlupa City Government in empowering young voices and fostering a platform for dialogue, advocacy, and action in ensuring the rights and welfare of children in the region.
