Muntinlupa trikes tapped to relieve effects of Tigil-Pasada
The City Government of Muntinlupa is going the extra mile to accommodate commuters stranded by the nationwide transport strike implemented by several driver and operator groups.
Mayor Ruffy Biazon directed all government offices to deploy spare service vehicles such as flexi-trucks, pickups, and vans to ferry stranded passengers to and from their destinations within City limits.
Moreover, Biazon ordered the temporary suspension of set routes and limits on tricycles to make sure there are enough travel options for commuting students and workers.
In his Executive Order No. 09 (series of 2023), Biazon directed the deployment of all possible transport options and coordination of the appropriate agencies "to ensure the Tigil-Pasada shall have minimum adverse effect on the riding public as much as possible."
EO No.9 also directs the Schools Division Office-Muntinlupa to conduct asynchronous and synchronous classes in all public elementary and high schools, as well as the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, while classes are suspended on March 6 and 7 at the Colegio de Muntinlupa as exam week falls on the days of the transport strike.
Private schools are allowed on their own to suspend classes or implement alternative classroom modes as their resources and logistics permit them to do so. Classes in day care centers, meanwhile, are set to continue since most of their students live nearby.
Biazon assured the public that the City Government will be monitoring the progress of the strike in the coming days in order to send out the appropriate advisories. "As of now, the situation is very fluid, but we can assure Muntinlupeños we will do everything we can to minimize the inconvenience of our hard-working commuters," he said.
