Alabang Central Market reopens
Market-goers and bargain shoppers rejoice: The city of Muntinlupa has recently reopened the newly-renovated Alabang Central Market (ACM), considered by many to be one of the best market destinations in the South.
Mayor Ruffy Biazon led the reopening of the wet section of the new market building, emphasizing that the rejuvenated Market signals a new era and a more modern approach wth a view to bringing it at par with world standards.
"We will open and operate it in a manner that is attuned to the current trends and economic environment, leaving behind outdated practices. In the selection of tenants, we will make it fair with equal opportunities and dismantle monopolies," Biazon said.
According to City Government data, the ACM averaged 140,000 market-goers monthly in 2022. This translates to an annual collection of P21 million in revenue.
Biazon anticipates the ACM would contribute to an increase of more than 300 percent in collected revenue once the renovated market is fully operational. To make this happen, and to raise the professionalism and management standards, "we have enlisted the services of a business planner to help the market management be more effective and to create a more profitable business and marketing strategy. In this way, our City can directly benefit from the Market as a viable social and economic enterprise," Biazon said.
