France moves forward with an online casino legalisation bill
Gambling has become more worldwide with the widespread use of online casinos. That is not the case just yet in France because online casinos are not yet legal there. However, it looks like the plans are in motion with the creation of Bill 1248.
The bill is legislation that could lead to the legalisation of online casinos in France. This was presented by Philippe Latombe from the Democratic Movement Party. Reviews are ongoing by the French National Assembly.
This shift in interest in gambling platforms is a big deal worldwide. This can open the door for further growth for platforms like a live casino online Philippines platform. France is not the only country that has treated online casinos like that and this can be the precedent the industry needs.
Laying the foundation for French online casinos
Bill 1248 is the start of laying down the foundation for French online casinos and creating a market there. The main proposal in the legislation present in Article 2 is a five-year moratorium which would make online gambling legal.
Online casinos are given licences beyond five years and last until January 1, 2030. This gambling market would expand existing casino licence holders and open it up to other operators.
There is already a foundation being laid with all these licences given out. People want to gamble online which is a big deal because people do not have to go out to go to a land-based casino and gamble there. They just want to turn on their computer or mobile device to play a game which they can earn money from.
French players want to move to online gambling
Land-based casinos are still popular because it’s alluring to go to a place where you can play your favourite games while socialising at the same time. However, people want convenience with their gambling nowadays as they can just use their smartphone or computer.
France’s citizens want to gamble online legally without any issues. There are some workarounds like a virtual private network (VPN) but the players don’t want to play under a protective blanket and not go out until they feel safe.
Online casinos will join sportsbooks as a form of gambling
The legal forms of gambling in France are only online poker and sports betting. Most people know that sports are popular in France, especially football and basketball, which is why it’s natural for them to have platforms to place their bets on.
It is legal to use online sportsbooks in France which is another reason why online casinos make sense for French gamblers because it gives them a platform to play their favourite games for money. Both the interest and infrastructure are already there so all people need to get is the go signal to make wagers on their favourite online casino games.
If France decides to move forward with their plans to legalise online casinos, this bodes well for the rest of the world. A live casino online Philippines platform can be accepted in that country or even online gambling sites in Japan. France’s stance on online casinos is evolving and this is influential to the rest of the industry.
