Twist and turn

Yes, Juan. The plot thickens even further.

Flabbergasted may be an understatement. We were all stunned by the twist and turn in the political zarzuela. Who among us would ever thought about Sen. Bong Go going for the top post or the President, himself, seeking a senatorial seat, instead of the vice presidency?

I heard that the President wasn’t aware of the decision of his daughter to run for the second highest post. Prior to his filing of the certificate of candidacy for senator, the President had inquired about the move from the camp of his daughter when the truth was Inday Sara has already filed her COC under Lakas-CMD.

These two political developments have clearly received so much attention, which led to the deduction of most political observers, watchdogs and spinners that this seeming “family feud” has blown into a perfect political storm.

For some, it’s rebelliousness, spelled with a capital D. The pronouncement of Inday Sara’s alliance with former Senator and the son of the deposed president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. could be taken to mean as another rebellious political act.

A lot seems to be going awry. I kinda’ mixed up the ending in my previous write up. Bongbong did not agree to slide down but maintained his stance of seeking the top post. Mea culpa.

Another tell-tale sign is the rebuff of Inday Sara to be associated with the forever, loyal presidential special assistant. And the latest tirade from the River Palace resident about a certain presidentiable hooked into cocaine is another demonstration that all is not well between the father- daughter relationship.

Here’s the tittle-tattle going around the political arena: mischievous allegation of cordon sanitaire. The presidential daughter is apparently infuriated having to go through the senator before she can talk/see her father. True or merely fake news, cordon sanitaire is and will always be part of the protocol in the seat of power.

The pandemic weary electorate believes that it will be a three-way fight in the presidential race: the son of the dictator, the Batang smokey mountain and the pink lady.

The rumor emerging is the diminishing contributions in the coffers of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno relative to his weakening showing in the survey.

In the vice presidential race, the entry of Inday Sara will be a litmus test on the popularity, “mula Aparri hangang Jolo,” of Senate President Tito Sotto. Prior to her entry, the prognosis is TitoSen, as he is fondly called, will defeat hands down megastar’s husband Sen. Francis Pangilinan.

Will the twist and turn in the political scene end following the closure of substitution last Monday? I believe no since it is still too early to tell from what I hear there are still on going negotiations.
