Mar and Martin
It’s no surprise that the Palace has been appointing, anointing, and promoting personalities in the Cabinet. As the chief executive, Junior can very well do such and this time can pick from those strings of politicians who run and lost in 2022.
The scenario of the appointment of former Bohol Governor Arthur Yap as Agriculture Secretary has reportedly changed. It would have been a return of Yap to DA, a position he once held.
Why? Yap is an ally of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. It’s a consequence of PGMA falling out of grace in the House leadership ladder because she was believed to be the chief architect of the failed coup attempt to oust presidential first cousin Ferdinand Martin Romuladez
And surprise, Junior is seriously considering former Senator Mar Roxas to head the DA portfolio. Despite their opposing political leanings, Mar is related to the Liza Araneta Marcos (LAM). The first lady’s father is the first cousin of Mar’s mother Judith “Judy” Araneta-Roxas.
Speaking of Martin and LAM, the tittle-tattle going around is that these two important personalities in the administration of Junior are reportedly not on good terms.
From my view, I surmise that the gap stems from the assumption of political observers that Martin, based on recent events, is preparing for a higher position, which does not sit well with LAM.
This early, some say Martin is already laying the ground works as reflected by his firm’s – Prime Media Holdings Inc. – “radio” partnership with ABS-CBN Corporation.
As we all know, radio is the most effective avenue, reaching out to far flung areas.
I marvel at this turn of developments. I remember the time when these two families were at loggerheads. Now, they’re partners in business.
Let’s watch how these political exigencies further unravel.
