Thespians are in for a treat next year as both local and international musicals are set to grace the Philippine stage.

Metro News Central has listed the shows that you absolutely cannot miss (and might want to start saving up for) next year.

Miss Saigon

Sir Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Boublil & Schönberg’s "Miss Saigon" is landing in Manila this March 2024.

The Tony Award-winning musical extravaganza will grace the stage of The Theatre at Solaire in Paranaque City.

"Miss Saigon" is a poignant retelling of Giacomo Puccini's opera, "Madame Butterfly," transporting the story to the tumultuous 1970s, where a young Vietnamese woman named Kim falls in love with an American G.I. named Chris.

Tickets are up for grabs with prices ranging from P2,116 to P8,464.

One More Chance

Titos and titas rejoice!

You can re-watch the iconic love story of Popoy and Basha — not on the silver screen, but live on stage.

"One More Chance" will be transformed into a musical by the talented folks at the Philippine Educational Theater Association.

It will feature tracks by the nine-piece folk-pop sensation, Ben&Ben. (Yes, Gen Zs, this one's for you, too!)

Cathy Garcia-Molina's 2007 romantic film follows the story of a couple as they navigate the complexities of adult life.

Details, such as the cast and ticket availability, have yet to be announced.

But we're sure that whoever steps into the roles of Popoy and Basha has big shoes to fill, given the brilliant performances of veteran actors John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo in the film.

Broadway musical "Rent" is also coming to the country, courtesy of theater company 9 Works Theatrical.

"Rent" narrates the struggles of a group of impoverished young artists trying to survive in the bustling heart of New York City during the ‘90s.

With music, lyrics, and book by Jonathan Larson, "Rent" is loosely based on the 1896 opera La bohème by Giacomo Puccini, Luigi Illica, and Giuseppe Giacosa, which in turn is based on the 1851 novel Scenes of Bohemian Life by Henri Murger.

On Broadway, "Rent" gained critical acclaim and won several awards, including the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Musical.

Dates and ticket prices remain a mystery, but auditions are currently underway.

Get ready to groove to '90s hits in the upcoming musical, "Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical."

Titled after the band's sophomore album released in 1997, the musical promises to take you on a musical journey down memory lane.

Specific details about the plot and opening night are currently under wraps. On the other hand, the casting call for the show is already in full swing.
