Vice Ganda, Paolo Ballesteros team up in fast-food chain ad
Vice Ganda and Paolo Ballesteros have joined forces in a new fast-food chain commercial that's been widely applauded on social media.
The two LGBTQIA icons from competing noontime shows shared a tender moment in McDonald's "Share The Love" ad, which has been going viral since its release on Monday.
In the commercial, the two shared a box of chicken.
"Perfect for the madlang people," Vice remarked about the chicken.
"Even better for the dabarkads," Ballesteros replied.
Social media users praised the fast-food chain's holiday campaign, saying it would help spark conversations about LGBTQIA acceptance and tolerance.
Both stars wield significant influence in the showbiz industry, even though the Philippines has yet to enact laws specifically prohibiting hate and discrimination against members of the community.
As of this story's writing, the commercial has been watched by over a million people and has garnered 114,000 reactions on Facebook.
"Wow! Seeing these two in one commercial is priceless! A very good job to the person who conceptualized this collaboration!" one netizen commented.
"The Filipino queer fans emerge victorious! Let's crown Mama Pao and Vice Ganda as the Unkabogable Stars. Vice always reminds us the stage is vast for more stars to shine. The rivals collided for McDonald's, making happiness unstoppable!" another user said.
During Pride Month last June, McDonald's also released an ad starring a lesbian couple.
It featured a woman on a longboard circling around a McDonald's drive-thru three times to place separate orders. She interacted with the same female drive-thru operator each time, hinting at a flirtation between the two.
The two women are then revealed to be romantically involved, laughing and holding hands as they leave the fast-food restaurant.
