Michelle Dee grateful to fans after Miss Universe Top 10 finish
Michelle Dee thanked Filipinos for their unwavering support throughout her Miss Universe journey, culminating in her Top 10 finish.
Dee was also among the Gold winners in the pageant's "Voice for Change" category, alongside candidates from Angola and Puerto Rico. Her entry focused on advocating for autism acceptance, inclusivity, and women's empowerment.
"We did what we could but destiny has greater things for us! Everything ALWAYS happens for a reason! I’m still trying to compose my thoughts & feelings with everything going on, but all I know is I’m truly indebted to all of you!" she wrote on Instagram on Sunday, hours after the competition held in El Salvador. "We showed the whole universe what our #BAYANIHAN spirit can do and let’s keep shaking them. Mahal na mahal ko kayo."
The 28-year-old beauty queen also shared her stunning photos in Apo Whang-Od-inspired evening gown.
Michelle's Top 10 placement marked the Philippines' return to the semifinals after her predecessor, Celeste Cortesi, ended the country's 12-year streak of progressing beyond the initial round.
However, the country's representative fell short of making it into the Top 5.
Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua was crowned the 2023 Miss Universe at the annual pageant. Anntonia Porsild of Thailand and Moraya Wilson of Australia were the first and second runner-ups, respectively.
