Admission is free. Interested individuals can sign up through this link.
Timog Pelikula will be screening the following short films:
1. Daluyong
Directed by Alexia Sumilang
An artist is struck with a mysterious condition that fills up her lungs with water. As she is called to her imminent death, her sister serves as her salvation.
2. S'ya
Directed by Eudel Ayuban
Two old friends take a walk to catch up and revisit their usual hangout spot. As they reminisce about the past and sidestep confrontation, one must determine whether to salvage their crumbling friendship.
3. Paglagos sa Hibaybay
Directed by Angelo Miguel
Rener grapples with grief as an ethereal presence, of his daughter, appears in his realm. Their bond deepens through shared memories from his video camera footage, blurring past and present, all while bridging two realms. Yet, the true nature of this encounter remains a tantalizing mystery, challenging perceptions of life and death.
4. Clairvoyant
Directed by John Luke Miraflor
Haunted by an eerie image of a young girl, Angela struggles as she deals with her visions alone. Clairvoyant revolves around the story of Angela’s family as they navigate life through the pandemic, poverty, and the unexplained elements haunting their family. It turns out they are against something more dangerous than the elements, which is ignorance.
5. Dead in the Dark
Directed by Nel Conrad Dela Cruz
Two thieves break into a derelict house during a rotational brownout.
6. p*t @ 1! tl3 m0r3! (Put a Little More!)
Directed by Jazon Enriquez-Roque
Bothered by profanity and swearing during the presidential interviews of the Duterte Administration, p*t @ 1! tl3 m0r3! (Put a Little More!) gives a glimpse of the disturbing and numbing experiences of the filmmaker with swear words.
7. Algae
Directed by Jesed Francis A. Moreno
Demos, a tortured lab rat and human monster, ends up on an unknown island. Because of hunger, he eats Sarpa Salpa, a fish that causes LSD-like hallucinations, leading him on a never-ending psychedelic trip that heals him in the process.
8. I Think I Left My Soul Behind
Directed by Joshua Arena
Yearning for freedom, purpose, and healing, a woman in her 20s is on the verge of losing her sense of self. As she wanders the mundane city of Manila, the tormenting thoughts of time, perfection, and solace haunt her. The answers seem to be evocative yet situated in the dark abyss.
9. Lucid
Directed by Lih Ocampo
A national artist delivers a powerful message urging us to embrace and celebrate our cultural heritage, highlighting its richness and greatness, and encouraging us to avoid being mere imitators of modern society.
10. Blankhead
Directed Red Sales
I was interested in visualizing the experience of sleep inertia. The transitional state from a dreaming mind to a waking one is slow and tedious. There is a mental blurriness that persists to different degrees when one starts their day. I saw a physical parallel of this phenomenon to hiding under a blanket when we do not yet accept the task of getting up in the morning. The translucent fabrics create a haze to shield our vision from the morning sun. I wanted to explore cinema's ability to portray the experience of numerous layers of restless blankets acting as a cognitive fog that is gradually being lifted as you finally wake up.
