Liza Soberano is set to make her Hollywood debut in the horror-comedy film "Lisa Frankenstein," which she described as a "huge" career risk worth taking.

The film, directed by Zelda Williams and written by Oscar and Tony winner Diablo Cody, opens today, February 7, in cinemas nationwide.

In "Lisa Frankenstein," Soberano plays Taffy, the sociable and popular yet clueless stepsister of the titular character Lisa Swallows (Kathryn Newton). With Taffy's help, the protagonist navigates her new life following her mother's traumatic death and her father's swift remarriage to Janet (Carla Gugino).

She has expressed excitement and gratitude for her role in the film, saying it was everything that she had hoped for.

"It's set in the 80s, so the whole look—the hair, makeup—is totally 80s, which is new for me," the actress was quoted as saying in a press material sent to Metro News Central.

"It's the kind of movie I've always wanted to do. It has horror, comedy, and romance in one. I was looking for a role that would really push me," Soberano said.

"Sure, it's a huge risk for my career," she continued, "but that's what's exciting about it. I know I've learned a lot no matter how it turns out. That's what counts.”

The actress also recounted how she landed the role, noting that she could not miss the opportunity to work with the "Lisa Frankenstein" team.

She shared she had met Williams, the film's director, during a trip to Los Angeles. With the primary roles already filled,  Williams suggested that Soberano audition for one of the remaining roles.

"I was like, 'Sure, let me check out the script. If it’s something that interests me, I'm in,'" Soberano said.

"And when I saw Diablo Cody was on board, I just had to audition for it."

A Universal Pictures International release, "Lisa Frankenstein" blends the elements of comedy, romance, and fantasy and promises to offer a fresh take on the classic Frankenstein narrative.
