Marikina Mayor assures free education for SHS students
Mayor Marc Teodoro assures a bright future for Grade 11 students entering Senior High School (SHS) at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina (PLMar). This assurance comes after the city government shouldered the tuition fees for the academic year 2023-2024, as these will no longer be supported by national funding.
Over two days of orientation activities held at the Teatro Marikina and the Sentrong Pangkultura, Congresswoman Maan Teodoro joined in the effort to support and enlighten students about the significance of education for Marikina families.
"Though the city government of Marikina will shoulder a significant amount to sustain your education, we prioritize education because it's crucial. It's crucial for our fathers, mothers, siblings – for our families. In Marikina, family is paramount. So, if there's a need for other essential projects in the city, Congresswoman Maan's office is here to support," Mayor Marc expressed.
At the conclusion of the orientation, incoming senior high school students of PLMar received their Letters of Admission, which they will present during enrollment in the coming week.
This initiative by the Marikina local government underscores its strong commitment to empowering its youth through accessible education, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder the pursuit of knowledge. Mayor Marc Teodoro's dedication to education promises a hopeful future for the city's aspiring young minds.
