Manila gov't receives 2 cold chain equipment for vaccines

The Manila City government received on Monday, November 15, two cold chain equipment for vaccines from the government of Japan through UNICEF Philippines.

Manila City Vice Mayor Doktora Honey Lacuna and City Health Officer Dr. Arnold Pangan welcomed Japanese Ambassador His Excellency Koshikawa Kazuhiko and officials from UNICEF during the turn-over ceremony.

Lacuna said that the equipment given will strengthen the mitigation efforts of the city against COVID-19.

"This will further strengthen our storage capability and effectiveness in handling of the vaccines against COVID-19," Lacuna said.

"Rest assured that we will continue to roll out our vaccines as we are now serving the 12-17 years old age bracket," she added.

As of 1:30pm of Monday, at least 4,018 minors have been inoculated against COVID-19. Out of the said number, 3,640 of which were first dose while 378 of which are second dose.

Lacuna then expressed great appreciation to the Japanese community and UNICEF Philippines for extending help amid the pandemic.

"We in the City of Manila, under the dynamic stewardship of our local chief executive, Mayor Francisco Isko Moreno Domagoso, would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the government of Japan through UNICEF Philippines for the cold chain equipment that you are giving us for the vaccines," Lacuna said.
