Bongabong officials visit Mandaluyong

The municipal officials of Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro, led by Mayor Eligio Malaluan and Vice Mayor Richard Candelario, along with councilors and department heads, visited the city of Mandaluyong as part of their benchmarking efforts for Gender and Development (GAD) programs and projects.

Mandaluyong Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos welcomed the Bongabong officials and expressed her gratitude for their visit. The vice mayor shared the city's experiences and initiatives on promoting GAD, including the establishment of the Mandaluyong City Gender and Development Focal Point System, which is responsible for ensuring the mainstreaming of GAD in the city's programs, activities, and projects.

The Bongabong officials were also able to observe the city's GAD-related programs, such as the Women and Children Protection Desk, the Pink Taxi project, and the Gender Fair Ordinance, which ensures that all genders are treated equally and with respect in the workplace and other settings.

The benchmarking visit aims to provide the Bongabong officials with insights and ideas on how to improve their own GAD programs and initiatives. Mayor Malaluan expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality of the Mandaluyong officials, and he looks forward to implementing the learnings from the visit to his municipality's GAD efforts.

The visit highlights the importance of sharing best practices and experiences among local government units in promoting gender equality and empowerment. By benchmarking with other LGUs, municipalities like Bongabong can improve their programs and initiatives to better serve their constituents and achieve their goals for gender and development.
