575 Mandaluyong students join college fair
The city government of Mandaluyong welcomed 575 Grade 12 students during its “Be Academically Aware” or B.A.A. College Fair that aims to help them decide on what colleges or universities they want to enroll in and the respective programs that they wish to take up in college, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.
The fair, made in partnership with the office of Councilor Benjie Abalos and attended by Mandaluyong City Mayor Ben Abalos, Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos, and other government officials, was held at the city hall and was participated in by 33 universities and colleges in Metro Manila.
According to Abalos, the event brought the schools closer to the students. He said: “If they will head to the different universities and colleges, they might only be able to visit three or four in a day. But since we were able to invite 33 institutions in one venue, students don’t have to spend too much time and money just to get the right information they need to make the right decision on what course to take up in college and which school to go to.”
“In one day, 33 to 34 colleges, universities, and even technical and vocational mache-check po nila,” Abalos said.
The lawmaker explained that despite having most of the students who attended the fair coming from the city, a number of attendees also came from other parts of Metro Manila as the fair was also a one-stop shop for all the participating schools.
He also encouraged parents to support education-related activities like the B.A.A. College Fair that can also help them in guiding their children on their educational path.
Among the universities and colleges that participated in the B.A.A. College Fair are Manuel L. Quezon University, Adamson University, University of Santo Tomas, University of Asia and the Pacific, Mapua Institute of Technology, World City College, De La Salle University, St. Scholastica’s College, Asia Pacific College, Jose Rizal University, Don Bosco Technical College, Mary Chiles College, and the Technological Institute of the Philippines.
