Zamboanga officials visit Malabon to learn best practices
Officials from Zamboanga City visited Malabon City last Thursday, March 23, to learn from the local government's best practices in disaster preparedness and sustainable development. The visit was warmly welcomed by the Malabon City government, with City Administrator Alexander Rosete leading the briefing along with department heads.
During the visit, the Malabon officials shared their knowledge and experience in dealing with disasters, including their flood control projects and implementation of the Malabon Ahon Blue Card program. The latter is a disaster response program that provides cash assistance to affected families, and it has been recognized by the national government as an excellent model for other localities to follow.
Aside from disaster preparedness, the officials also discussed various programs related to environmental protection, economic development, healthcare, and livelihood. The Zamboanga officials expressed their admiration for Malabon's efforts in promoting sustainable development and uplifting the lives of its constituents.
After the briefing, the group proceeded to visit some of Malabon City's notable facilities. They went to the Catmon Pumping Station, which is responsible for managing the city's flood control system. They also visited the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Action Center in Barangay Potrero, where they learned more about the city's disaster response capabilities. Finally, they visited the Blue Caravan in Fisher Mall, which showcases Malabon's various initiatives on environmental protection and sustainable development.
Overall, the visit served as an opportunity for the Zamboanga officials to gain insights and knowledge from Malabon's best practices in disaster preparedness and sustainable development. It also fostered camaraderie and collaboration between the two cities, which can help strengthen their capabilities in addressing various challenges and issues in their respective localities.
