79-year-old Fil-Am fulfills dream of traveling the world
A 79-year-old Filipino-American woman has achieved her lifelong dream of traveling the world.
Luisa Yu celebrated her recent visit to Serbia, which marked the completion of her 56-year quest to travel all 193 member-countries of the United Nations.
"I MADE IT!!! Thanks to my travel friends for a very nice welcome!!!" she wrote on Instagram last November 10.
The traveler was born in the Philippines and went to St. Louis, Missouri as an exchange student. She later relocated to Miami where she worked as a nurse, according to an NBC6 report.
Speaking to NBC6, Luisa said she quit her job in her early 20s to travel. Luisa then focused on real estate as a means to fund her trips.
"Don’t be afraid, just go. Don’t wait for anybody, because if you wait, it will never happen," she was quoted as saying in the report.
Her Instagram page served as a travel diary of sorts, featuring snapshots of the places she traveled and the friends she made.
Many social media users congratulated Luisa for her achievement, saying her trips inspired them to travel the world, too.
