Las Pinas celebrates 48th International Bamboo Organ Festival
The City of Las Piñas is once again celebrating its annual International Bamboo Organ Festival, which will be held from February 23 to March 2, 2023. After two years of holding the festival online due to the pandemic, the city is proud to bring back the festival live at the St. Joseph Parish Church in Barangay Daniel Fajardo.
The festival's highlight will be a performance conducted by Eudenice Palaruan, which will feature an ensemble composed of both local and foreign acts. Among these acts are the Collegium Vocale Manila, the Manila Baroque Ensemble, soloists Raphael Leone from Austria on piccolo, Carolyn Kleiner-Cheng on harpsichord, and Armando Salarza on organ.
This year's festival will feature baroque music from Europe and Latin America. The Bamboo Organ, a historical and cultural treasure of the City of Las Piñas, will be prominently featured in the festival.
The organ, which was built in the 19th century, is made entirely of bamboo and is a unique instrument in the world of music.
The International Bamboo Organ Festival is a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of Las Piñas and the Philippines as a whole. Through this festival, the city aims to promote the importance of preserving and showcasing cultural treasures such as the Bamboo Organ.
The festival also serves as a platform for both local and international artists to showcase their talents and share their music with a wider audience.
Overall, the return of the International Bamboo Organ Festival to live performances is an exciting development for the city and its residents. It is a testament to the resilience of the people of Las Piñas and their commitment to preserving their cultural heritage.
