Las Pinas Mayor Mel Aguilar has suspended face-to-face classes in all public schools from March 8 to 10 due to the nationwide transport strike. The move was made to ensure the safety and welfare of students who may have difficulty travelling to and from school during the protest.

Public schools are expected to implement alternative learning modalities during the three-day suspension of face-to-face classes. The Department of Education (DepEd) has encouraged schools to use different approaches such as online classes, modular learning, and radio and television-based instruction to continue students' education despite the suspension.

Mayor Aguilar emphasized that the city government is taking the transport strike seriously and has implemented measures to ensure that the public's daily activities are not severely affected. The suspension of face-to-face classes is one of the measures being taken to maintain peace and order and ensure that students' safety is not compromised.

Private schools, on the other hand, have the discretion to decide whether or not to suspend their face-to-face classes. The city government advises private school administrators to prioritize the safety of their students and faculty members and consider alternative learning modalities as well.

The transport strike is expected to cause inconvenience to the public, but Mayor Aguilar assured that the city government is doing its best to minimize its impact. She urged the public to be patient and understanding during the protest and reminded everyone to follow health protocols such as wearing masks and face shields, and practicing physical distancing.
