Tropical depression likely to avoid land

Tropical Depression (TD) Fabian is moving closer to Philippine landmass but is not expected to make landfall based on its track, the weather bureau said on Saturday, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Fabian” was last estimated at 1,365 km. east of extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph. It was moving north-northeastward at 15 kph.

By 2 a.m. Tuesday, “Fabian” is expected to be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 825 km. northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms brought by the southwest monsoon will prevail in the Mimaropa, Bicol, and Zamboanga Peninsula regions, the Visayas, as well as the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Tawi-Tawi, Sulu, and Basilan.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms brought by the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms.

The temperature in Metro Manila will range from 25°C to 31°C; Baguio City, 16°C to 24°C; Legazpi City, 25°C to 31°C; Metro Cebu, 24°C to 31°C; Cagayan de Oro City, 23°C to 31°C; and Metro Davao, 25°C to 32°C
