LRT1 Roosevelt Station reopens
After two years of closure, the Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) on Monday reopened the Roosevelt Station of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT1) with adjusted train service hours, according to a report by GMA News.
Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, LRMC spokesperson Jacqueline Gorospe said the first few hours of the reopening went smoothly.
"After two years, muli ngang binuksan natin (we reopened) today at 4:30 a.m. first trip from LRT1 Roosevelt Station," Gorospe said.
“So far po, naging smooth ang ating first few hours of operating Roosevelt Station. Nagulat nga po kami despite the short notice—kinonfirm lang namin 'to yesterday dahil nga sa naganap na weekend closure—but still po this morning we saw a steady flow of passengers,” she added.
Before it announced the reopening, the LRMC temporarily closed the LRT1 over the weekend to conduct tests, trail runs, and exercise, which all went successful, according to a report of James Agustin on GMA News’ Unang Balita.
Roosevelt Station is expected to serve 20,000 to 22,000 passengers daily. Before the pandemic in 2020, the station was accommodating around 35,000 passengers.
The last train from the Baclaran Station will leave at 10 p.m. on weekdays, and at 9:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Meanwhile, the last train from Roosevelt will leave at 10:15 p.m. on weekdays, and 9:45 p.m. on weekends and holidays, according to the LRMC.
In September 2020, Roosevelt Station was closed to passengers to give way for the construction of the Common Station or known as the Unified Grand Central Station (UGCS).
The Common Station will connect the systems of LRT1, MRT3, and MRT7 and allow commuters to seamlessly transfer from one rail line to another.
