The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting Luzon and the Visayas will bring rains over most parts of the country, the weather bureau said in a report by Philippine News Agency.

In its 4 a.m. weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, the Bicol Region, the Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga are expected to experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

"Rains are likely, especially in the afternoon or at night. Floods and landslides are possible," Benison Estareja of PAGASA said.

Most of the Visayas are also affected by the ITCZ.

Estareja said light to moderate rains will prevail, while heavy rains are likely in the afternoon. Floods, landslides are possible.

"For the rest of Mindanao, on the other hand, cloudy skies will prevail throughout the day. It will be sunny until noon, especially in Davao. Rains are likely in the afternoon," Estareja said.

No gale warning is currently in effect.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will be experienced over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon, and moderate seas over the western section of the island.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

Estareja said no weather disturbance is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this weekend.

A low-pressure area may develop east of the Visayas or the West Philippine Sea, he said.
