Gov't launches eTravel platform

Government agencies headed by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) launched an eTravel platform that would allow faster and easier processing of passengers arriving in the country, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.

Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the new system will replace the arrival cards, which were previously submitted upon arrival to the Bureau.

Effective Monday, the BI will no longer require the submission of the paper-based arrival cards for arriving passengers.

“The system will consolidate all data collection processes at the ports. Instead of having to fill out several forms for different agencies, all will be consolidated into one platform to streamline entry procedures,” the BI chief added.

The system is an initiative of a sub-technical working group of an inter-agency task force chaired by the BI.

Aside from the arrival card, the information from the platform will also replace the One Health Pass of the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) and the arrival form of the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

The registration on the eTravel platform is free.

Tansingco also believed that the project is a major achievement to ensure interoperable systems among government agencies.

“We are happy and proud to be part of this achievement. This is a product of working together with different government agencies, with the aim of improving our services for the public,” he said.

Aside from BOQ and BOC, the other partner agencies are the Department of Information and Communications Technology, the Department of Tourism, the Department of Health, the Department of Transportation and the Department of Justice.
