DOLE suspends office work in NCR for 2 days
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) central office in Intramuros and its regional office in the National Capital Region (NCR) will be temporarily closed for two days starting Friday, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.
In a memorandum signed by Secretary Silvestre Bello III on Thursday, the said offices will be closed until January 17, due to the increasing number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the department.
As of Thursday night, Bello said Covid-19 infections in the agency have reached 128, which is about 21 percent of the DOLE central office's 600 personnel.
The suspension of work for the said period was also implemented with the surge of Covid-19 cases, particularly in NCR.
Bello also directed all heads of offices, services, and bureaus, including the NCR regional office to resume work on January 18.
On Thursday, the Philippines saw another single-day record of new infections at 34,021, raising the number of confirmed infections to 3,092,409.
The total figure includes 2,802,286 recoveries, 237,387 active cases and 52,654 deaths.
