An additional 5,317 patients have beaten the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), pushing the country’s overall recovery count to 2,573,161 as of Thursday, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.

The Department of Health (DOH), in its latest Covid-19 bulletin, said recoveries account for 95.4 percent of the total 2,698,232 infections since the start of the pandemic last year.

It also logged 7,835 new cases and 154 new deaths, bringing the overall tally of active cases to 84,850 and the death toll to 40,221.

The latest figures showed 77.2 percent of the active cases are mild, 10.6 percent are asymptomatic, 3.6 percent are severe, 7.01 percent are moderate, and 1.5 percent are in critical condition.

“There were 58 duplicates removed from the total case count as 42 of these are recoveries. Moreover, 89 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it said.

DOH data on Oct. 14, likewise, showed that 14 percent of 51,358 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.

All laboratories were operational on Oct. 12 but four of them were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).

Based on data in the last 14 days, the four non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 1.3 percent of samples tested and 1.2 percent of positive individuals.

To date, 65 percent of 4,300 intensive care unit beds, 51 percent of 20,900 isolation beds, 51 percent of 15,000 ward beds, and 48 percent of 3,300 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use nationwide.

Meanwhile, 61 percent of 1,400 intensive care unit beds, 42 percent of 4,900 isolation beds, 47 percent of 4,200 ward beds, and 49 percent of 1,000 ventilators reserved for patients with Covid-19 are being used in the National Capital Region.
