Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos recently shared how Jose Mari Chan's classic song, "Christmas in Our Hearts," became a source of solace for him after the passing of his daughter.

In a heartfelt social media post on Sunday, Abalos revealed that he heard the song every time he got a call for five days — from the moment his daughter Ciara passed away until her funeral.

"After my daughter was buried, I went to the office of my service provider. I asked the manager if someone was pulling a prank on me," he wrote on Facebook. "They had the issue investigated and told me that there was no prank."

Abalos said the song provided him comfort, interpreting it as a message of love from his departed daughter "at a point where I was even questioning my faith."

"Paulit-ulit ito. As if my daughter Ciara was comforting me and trying to ease my pain," he shared. "I know that Ciara is with God."

His eldest daughter passed away 18 years ago due to complications from e-coli.

Abalos expressed his gratitude to Chan, recognizing him as a "true friend" whose music brought happiness to many people.

"Thank you, Jose Marie, for being a true friend and bringing happiness and spreading the true essence of Christmas thru your songs!" he concluded.
