The Antipolo City local government announced on Friday that 1,500 beneficiaries of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantage/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) have received P4,000 cash for rendering community service amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.

In a Facebook post, the local government said the cash assistance was distributed at the Ynares Center to the city residents who worked at the vaccination sites or served as street sweepers for 10 days.

“Sa huling 2 buwan ay nakapamahagi na tayo ng mahigit 16 milyon pesos sa mahigit 4,000 TUPAD beneficiaries (In the past two months, we have already distributed P16 million to over 4,000 TUPAD beneficiaries),” the local government unit (LGU) said.

“Pipilitin nating makalikom pa ng karagdagang pondo para madaming mapabilang sa nasabing programa sa mga darating na araw (We will do our best to look for additional funds to increase the number of beneficiaries for the said program),” it added.

TUPAD program is a community-based package of assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
